Scientist/Senior Scientist, Computational Biology

  • We are seeking a creative, highly motivated, responsible, and dynamic scientist to join our R&D division to contribute to high-impact and fast-paced research and drug discovery. 
  • This position is a full-time position in the company’s San Diego headquarters. 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the identification and characterization of novel targets and mechanisms in cancer, exploring how our portfolio of compounds may be leveraged as cancer therapeutics
  • Contribute to the application of leading-edge computational technologies for accelerated target evaluation and provide actionable hypotheses for chemical mechanism of action
  • Support generation and analysis of various types of omics data for hypothesis generation and testing to enable novel target discovery, patient selection strategies, and resistance mechanisms
  • Lead multi-omics integration, biological network modeling, biostatistics and systems approaches to drug discovery
  • Interact routinely with Biosplice’s Biology, Chemistry and Bioinformatics teams to integrate knowledge and develop an understanding of complex biological systems; assist these teams in designing experiments to further our understanding of tumor biology and actions of our tool compounds.
  • Engage in data analysis, presenting results, and working collaboratively with others to achieve objectives and timelines
  • Assisting in the preparation of internal and external presentations (oral, posters, and publications)


  • Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics or related field, with 0+ years experience in industry or post-doctoral research, including at least 3+ years of hands-on experience working with various types of omics data
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in human genetics, functional genomics and cancer biology
  • Expertise in standard omics platforms and single cell sequencing technologies (RNAseq, WGS, ChipSeq, ATACseq, TMT, CRISPR)
  • 2+ years of experience coding in R and implementing standard R packages widely used in bioinformatics/computational biology workflows
  • Experience with shell scripting
  • Broad knowledge of Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, assay development.
  • Proven track record of scientific contributions in computational biology, functional genomics and drug discovery as evidenced by quality and quantity of publications and presentations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a team environment and work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Outstanding organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to provide novel creative solutions to challenging problems. Desire to learn and tackle new challenges and initiatives.
  • Level will be commensurate with experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with cancer biology and the application of omics techniques in this context (especially RNA-seq and single-cell techniques)
  • At least some wet-lab experience or familiarity with wet-lab techniques is strongly preferred, in particular standard molecular biology techniques and with cell culture and cell-based assays
  • Computational biology experience as part of post-doctoral research or in industry
